Hospital Tour

So today we took a tour of the hospital. It was interesting to see where I would be and all the behind the scene stuff. It sure makes things feel so real and soon. :)

We have talked about it for awhile now and we made the decision not to nurse. Well, the tour ended with a talk with a lactation specialist. We didn't want to come off as the "bad" parents so we stayed with the group for the talk. The key piece of information that we both walked away with was:

A breast a day keeps the doctor away.

And to think we grew up thinking it was an apple a day that did that for us.... hmm...

You didn't ask, but here's my advice, anyway - - breast feed while you are in the hospital. The baby will get the "stuff" he needs during that period, and you can go straight to formula after. I was so worried about the twins's immunity, I breastfed while in hospital, but then quit before I got home. (Do NOT picture this!)Then I was so paranoid I wouldn't let anyone hardly look at them for the first six weeks. That's look at my twins, not my . . . oh, never mind!
